BLOOMINGTON, Minn., August 3, 2004 — Pearson VUE, the electronic testing business of Pearson Education, today announced that it has signed a three-year contract with the American College of Sports Medicine to be the exclusive test delivery provider of computer-based certified Personal Trainer exams. Beginning in December 2004, these exams will be delivered throughout the Pearson VUE global network of over 3,700 Pearson VUE™ Authorized Centers.
With over 20,000 International, National and Regional Chapter members, the American College of Sports Medicine is the world’s largest multidisciplinary sports medicine and exercise science organization. ACSM certification and registry programs are the most rigorous in the industry, establishing the standard for all other certifications by requiring the highest level of knowledge and skill. With the addition of its brand new ACSM certified Personal Trainer exam, ACSM will now be able to accredit well-trained and properly prepared professionals along the entire continuum of the health and fitness industry.
