Pearson VUE to Begin Test Delivery of EC-Council Certification Exams

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., September 16, 2005 — Pearson VUE, the electronic testing business of Pearson Education, today announced it signed a three-year contract with EC-Council to provide computer-based test delivery of EC-Council e-Business certification exams. Beginning October 2005, these exams will be available throughout the global network of over 3,700 Pearson VUE® Authorized Centers in 145 countries.

The objective of EC-Council is to support and enhance the role of individuals who design, create, manage or market e-Business solutions. The council offers e-Business certifications to professionals who are involved in designing e-Business Web sites. EC-Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker certification is one of its fastest growing IT certifications. Ethical hackers help organizations take preemptive measures against malicious attacks by attacking the system themselves; while staying within legal limits. The Certified Ethical Hacker Program certifies individuals in the specific network security discipline of ethical hacking from a vendor-neutral perspective.

“We look forward to working with Pearson VUE to certify the E-commerce professionals who wish to further their careers,” said Sanjay Bavisi, vice president of EC-Council. “There is a growing demand for EC-Council certifications; most notably the Certified Ethical Hacker and the Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator Programs. By teaming up with Pearson VUE, the exams for these two emergent certifications will be available in many more locations than before. Pearson VUE’s global test center network will meet our candidate need for convenient test center access.”

Bob Whelan, Pearson VUE vice president and general manager, said, “We’re excited to be delivering certification exams for EC-Council. The rapidly-growing Certified Ethical Hacker Program offered by EC-Council is an important certification program in that it helps businesses protect the security of their networks and computer systems. Our expansive, worldwide test center network will extend the reach of this certification as well as the other valuable EC-Council certifications.”

Pearson VUE (www.pearsonvue.com) is the electronic testing business of Pearson Education, which in turn is part of Pearson, the international media company. Pearson’s primary operations also include the Financial Times Group and the Penguin Group.
