BLOOMINGTON, Minn., January 17, 2006 — Pearson VUE, the electronic testing business of Pearson, today announced it signed an exclusive, three-year contract with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists to provide both test development and test delivery services for the computer-based RPSGT™ Examination for Polysomnographic Technologists.
Beginning in March 2006, the RPSGT examination will be delivered throughout the Pearson VUE-owned and -operated global network of more than 230 Pearson Professional Centers supplemented by another 170 Pearson VUE® Authorized Center Select test centers around the world. In addition to test delivery, Pearson VUE will provide test development services for BRPT as they transition the currently paper-and-pencil administered RPSGT examination to computer.
Established in 1978, the BRPT is a non-profit certification board that seeks to cultivate the highest professional and ethical standards for polysomnographic technologists by providing an internationally recognized credential. The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist™ (RPSGT) is a healthcare professional who has earned the credential that represents the highest certification in the field for the health care professionals who clinically assess patients with sleep disorders.
