February 6, 2006 — The UK Society of Investment Professionals’ (UKSIP) leading examination, the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), is moving from paper-and-pencil to computer based assessment from 1 March 2006.
The examination will be delivered by Pearson VUE, the world’s leading assessment and testing company. From 15 February candidates will be able to choose a location to sit the examination from a choice of over 50 UK Pearson Professional Centres and ten overseas Pearson VUE Test Centres.
The IMC is the UK entry-level examination of choice for investment management and advice. Candidates can already register online at the UKSIP Web site www.uksip.org to take the new computer based version of the IMC examination.
The syllabus and examination questions will remain unchanged but an additional 15 trial questions (which will not count towards the examination result) will be included. The trial questions will allow further improvements to be made to the IMC examination in the future.
John Rogers, Chief Executive of UKSIP, commented: “We have been considering computer based assessment for a number of years. The ability to deliver tests on demand at a location and time convenient to the candidate is a significant driving force and will be a great benefit for them.”
Paul Howarth, Managing Director, Pearson VUE, said: “We are pleased the UK Society of Investment Professionals chose Pearson VUE as its testing solution partner for its conversion from paper-and-pencil testing to computer-based testing. We look forward to bringing the many benefits of electronic testing to the investment management community. Our psychometric services combined with a fully integrated testing system and our state-of-the-art test centres will provide the consistency, control, security and coverage that UKSIP requires.”
