Philadelphia, PA (September 1, 2006) — Promissor® Inc., a leading content development and high-stakes assessment provider recently acquired by Pearson VUE, announced the successful implementation of licensure programs for the Minnesota Department of Commerce and the Minnesota Board of Barber and Cosmetology Examiners. The long-term contract, awarded through a competitive bidding process, is for the development and administration of computer-based examinations for insurance, real estate, appraiser, barber, and cosmetology programs as well as barber and cosmetology practical examinations. These examinations are being delivered in both Promissor and Pearson VUE-owned and operated test centers.
Promissor also announced the successful launch of a content development and exam administration program for the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for the contractor marketplace. This long-term contract was also awarded through a competitive bidding process and has been operating successfully since early July.
In addition to test administration and content development services, Promissor will also provide psychometric services to ensure that the examinations they offer the state of Minnesota are valid, reliable and legally defensible. Both Promissor and Pearson VUE are committed to helping the state reach its goal of providing greater convenience to their candidates by making their services available online and offering a more flexible examination schedule and real-time access to exam results.
