Pearson VUE Signs Exclusive Testing Agreement with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., June 1, 2007 — Pearson VUE, the electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, announced it signed an exclusive multi-year agreement with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) to provide psychometric services and computer-based test delivery of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) and the Physician Assistant National Recertifying Exam (PANRE). NCCPA’s program will transition to Pearson VUE in 2008. These examinations will be delivered in the Pearson VUE-owned and -operated network of more than 200 Pearson Professional Centers located throughout the United States and its territories.

Established in 1975, NCCPA is the only credentialing organization for physician assistants in the United States. NCCPA is dedicated to assuring that certified physician assistants meet professional standards of knowledge and skills. Approximately 60,000 physician assistants have been NCCPA certified and all 50 states and U.S. territories have decided to rely on the NCCPA certification as one of the criteria used to license physician assistants.

“NCCPA requires a test provider with a high-quality, secure test center network offering a professional testing experience and the highest level of service for our physician assistant candidates,” said Scott Arbet, PhD, NCCPA vice president of research and test development. “Pearson VUE will bring a new level of service and security to the NCCPA program.”

“We are pleased to be providing computer-based testing services for the organization that continues to be the industry standard for physician assistant certification,” said Robert Whelan, president, Pearson VUE. “Pearson VUE is committed to providing the most secure, high-quality testing environment for our clients’ testing programs. NCCPA exams will be delivered in our network of Pearson Professional Centers offering the highest level of security, consistency and control available in the industry.”
