International Society of Arboriculture Signs Agreement with Pearson VUE to be their Exclusive Computer-based Test Delivery Provider

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., November 19, 2008 — Pearson VUE, the electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, today announced that it has signed a long-term contract with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Starting December 1, 2008, the computer-based ISA Certification Exam will be delivered exclusively through domestic and international Pearson Professional Centers as well as Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Center Select locations outside the United States.

The ISA was founded in 1924 as an organization through which arborists around the world could share their experience and knowledge for the benefit of society and the profession. In support of their effort to foster a better understanding of tree care, and share knowledge of arboriculture information, the ISA offers five certification levels: Certified Arborist, Certified Arborist/Utility Specialist, Certified Arborist/Municipal Specialist, Certified Tree Worker Specialist and Board Certified Master Arborist. Over 20,000 members make up the ISA organization worldwide. Candidates seeking one of the five certifications will have the option to test through paper-and-pencil exams or computer-based test delivery.

“ISA is excited to move our certification process into computer-based delivery,” said Derek Vannice, ISA Director of Certification. “Our candidates will have more opportunities to obtain their certifications through the expanding Pearson VUE global network.”

“When an organization transitions from a paper-and-pencil testing program to computer-based testing, there are many benefits for test takers,” said Robert Whelan, president of Pearson VUE. “We are pleased the International Society of Arboriculture has chosen Pearson VUE as their computer-based testing partner. ISA candidates can expect a high-quality testing experience in our company-owned and -operated test centers located within the United States, as well as in our Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center Select locations around the world.”
