University of Maryland University College selects Pearson VUE to Deliver End-of-Course Exams
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 2, 2009 — University of Maryland University College (“UMUC”), a premier provider of distance education, has selected Pearson VUE to provide proctored end-of-course exams. These exams will be delivered throughout the Pearson VUE-owned and -operated network of more than 200 Pearson Professional Centers and the expansive Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Center network throughout the United States and its territories, as well as military installations.
University of Maryland University College, headquartered in Adelphi, Maryland, is the second largest university in Maryland, serving 90,000 students and offering 132 undergraduate and graduate programs online and on-site. In addition to testing in Pearson VUE’s traditional test centers, UMUC will leverage Pearson VUE’s relationship with the U.S. military to enable students serving abroad to have a secure, proctored test taking experience. With test centers located on military bases globally, Pearson VUE has a blanket Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) that allows for the rapid installation of Pearson VUE Test Centers at any interested DANTES location.
