Pearson VUE and PLH Online launch new secure computer-based testing
London, U.K., March 26, 2010 — Pearson VUE has won a new contract with on-line training company PLH Online to deliver the Scottish Personal Licence Holder exam in a secure electronic environment in their UK testing centre network.
PLH Online launched a pioneering e-learning solution for Public Licence Holder training in April 2009, and since then has provided a large number of employers and individuals across Scotland with a welcome solution to their licensing training needs. This new contract allows candidates to use computer-based testing to complete their PLH qualification. PLH Online has been developed in association with Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd. who has extensive knowledge of training in the UK licensed trade, and the new on-line testing option will help managers become qualified license holders quickly and conveniently.
Director Karen Calvert explains: “We are extremely pleased with the success of our Personal Licence Holder training so far. We have attracted customers from a wide range of businesses across the industry and from all parts of the country. It is proving to be a very cost effective and practical training solution, and the feedback on the quality and content of the course itself is fantastic. We are also appealing to a wide range of age groups proving that e-learning is for everybody. Using computer-based testing is an obvious choice to complement the on-line learning element.”
Pearson VUE is one of the world’s leading computer-based testing companies and has the largest network of owned test centres in the UK. This unique position means that 80% of the population (whether they are at home or work) are no more than 20 miles away from their nearest test centre. The benefits of this extensive network to the candidate is more choice on where to test, choice of date and time to test, and the ability to find out their test results more quickly than previously.
Suzana Lopes, VP Sales and Marketing EMEA said: “Using computer-based testing (CBT) to deliver this new test is a significant step forward for Montpelier. It will allow them complete confidence in the security of their test, more convenient testing opportunities for their candidates and speedier results. We are delighted they chose to work with us. Our breadth of experience globally means that we are able to provide a solution tailored to their specific requirements, support them getting ready to make the move to CBT and, moving forward, assist them to ensure they get the best from their programme.”
