Our Senior Executive Team is supported by the broader Pearson VUE Global Leadership Team, who possesses 500 years of combined experience implementing and operating computerized testing programs around the world. Together, we have launched hundreds of testing programs, the majority of which were transitions from other test delivery providers. We have developed an impeccable reputation for our commitment to quality and provide the highest level of service to our clients, their test takers, and our test center partners.

Robert Whelan - Bio
President and Chief Executive Officer
Over the course of an impressive 34-year career, Bob Whelan has made significant contributions to Pearson VUE and the entire testing industry. As the company’s president and chief executive officer, he has overall management responsibility for the Pearson VUE electronic testing business. Through successful communication of a clear vision and a team-based collaborative approach, he has seen the company grow to become the global leader in computer-based assessments. In recognition of these efforts, Bob received the 2011 ATP Award for Professional Contributions and Service to Testing from the Association of Test Publishers (ATP). Today, Pearson VUE delivers millions of exams in a network of more than 5,100 test centers in 175 countries worldwide.
Bob received his BA from the University of Alabama in finance and economics.
Gary Gates, PhD - Bio
Senior Vice President, Global Business
An international business expert, Gary Gates is responsible for leading
Gary’s considerable experience launching international enterprises includes development, commercialization, and internationalization of innovative technology which transformed how governments and other constituents source traffic information. He has also negotiated and established joint ventures and has won new business on a global scale. Prior to joining Pearson VUE, he held senior management positions with British Nuclear Fuels Plc and British Energy. Gary received his PhD in Inelastic Scattering in Gas-Surface Dynamics from the University of Liverpool and graduated with honors from the University of York with a BS in Theoretical Physics.
Corey Hoesley - Bio
Vice President, Global Operations
Corey Hoesley is responsible for all the operations that support Pearson VUE’s business functionality. In addition to his position on the company’s senior executive team, he provides daily and strategic leadership for Pearson VUE global operations, including the company-owned and –operated testing channel, security, customer service, technical support desk, network operations, information systems, quality control, data integrity, and fulfillment. Corey has proven himself to be an effective leader of multiple operational departments in his tenure. His nearly 20 years of operational management experience and testing and assessment business experience offer a unique combination to our clients.
Corey holds a BS in Mass Communications with a minor in Economics from St. Cloud University.

Karen Ketchmark - Bio
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
In leading Pearson VUE's human resources efforts, Karen is responsible for long- and short-term strategy, talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, and compensation. Her areas of expertise include organizational transformation and global business alignment. As a member of the company's Senior Executive Team, she works to align Pearson VUE's people initiatives with its high-growth strategic objectives. With 30 years primarily dedicated to the profession of human resources, her background also includes operations, client services and delivery implementation. Karen holds a BA in Human Resources Management from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and an MBA from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Steve Nordberg - Bio
Chief Technologist and Senior Vice President, Products and Services
With 40 years of experience in the computer industry, Steve Nordberg has a vast background in technology, management, sales, marketing, and finance. His distinctive experience includes three years as a sales and marketing executive for a growing, technology-based services business, four years as a successful independent management consultant, 14 years as a manager and executive with a Fortune 200 computer company, and five years as a systems engineer and manager. Steve is the co-founder of the original VUE business, which encompassed all aspects of innovative training services. He led technology development and strategic sales for VUE and helped grow the business until it culminated in its sale to National Computer Systems in April 1997.
Steve now serves as chief technologist of Pearson VUE as well as senior vice president of products and services. In these roles he leads the technological evolution of the Pearson VUE systems. He received his MS in Mathematics with Computer Science from New York University and a BS in Mathematics with high distinction from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology.
Randy Trask - Bio
President and Chief Executive Officer of GED Testing Service LLC
Randy Trask serves as President and CEO of GED Testing Service LLC, a joint venture between the American Council on Education and Pearson that formed in March 2011. His leadership is to ensure the organization’s singular focus on providing adult learners with opportunities – opportunities to earn a high school credential, for jobs, better paying jobs, to enter a college or work training program, to support themselves and their families, and to realize their dreams for a better life.
Prior to joining GED Testing Service, Randy served as senior vice president at Pearson VUE. He was responsible for new market business development, marketing, and overseeing Pearson VUE's authorized test center network. He also led a number of businesses including Pearson’s IT certification business. Randy also served as vice president of market development at Pearson VUE. His leadership has helped Pearson VUE become the leader in IT certification, as well as grow its high-stakes admissions and licensure business in the medical and healthcare, financial and academic markets. Currently, Randy is a member of the board for CompTIA’s education foundation, where he serves as the board chairperson. Randy earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Regis College and resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Arthur Valentine - Bio
Senior Vice President, Professional Services
As senior vice president of professional services, Art Valentine oversees Pearson VUE’s global testing services, credential management, and marketing teams as well as North American program management. In this role, he is responsible for making certain that all client deliverables are met and client satisfaction exceeds expectations. Testing services—including content development, publishing services, and psychometric services—are also under his leadership, in addition to value-added services that help clients increase testing volume and brand equity through effective marketing programs.
Art has more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions and is a member of Pearson VUE's senior executive team, which is responsible for driving Pearson VUE's business strategy and increasing shareholder value. Before joining Pearson VUE in 2003, he served as a principal at Perot Systems, a firm that provided enterprise resource planning solutions for manufacturing and retail companies. He has also held positions with Accenture and Verticalnet, where he provided technical consultative services to leading technology and consumer organizations.
Art holds a BS in Mathematical Sciences from the University of North Carolina.
Donald Wagner - Bio
Senior Vice President, Business Development
Don Wagner is a pioneer in the computer-based testing (CBT) industry and a key driver in Pearson VUE's success. As one of the architects of the company's carefully modeled network of testing centers, he champions Pearson VUE's commitment to providing the consistency, quality and control required by credentialing organizations.
As senior vice president of business development, he is responsible for strategic planning and business development activities serving the professional licensure and certification, information technology, government, human resource, academic and regulatory markets. Don has more than 20 years of broad technical experience helping clients implement CBT solutions and build successful testing programs. He is also responsible for Pearson VUE's global strategy for recruiting and managing third-party test centers.
Don continues to be an active supporter of industry organizations and initiatives that promote the benefits of computer-based assessment to clients and candidates worldwide. He holds a BS degree in Business Administration, Information Systems and Management from the University of Cincinnati.
