The AOBIM is the only recognized board in the specialty of osteopathic internal medicine and is one of the 16 member certifying boards reporting to the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists of the American Osteopathic Association. The certification and recertification programs in internal medicine and of any other subspecialty or specialty field that may be assigned to this Board are designed to recognize excellence and a high level of competence among those individuals who provide care in the discipline of internal medicine.
