The objective test question tutorials are not designed to represent a fully balanced test. They contain a range of question types across the syllabus.

Certificate level objective tests have 35 questions per subject.

Professional Qualification objective tests have 40 questions per subject.

The number of questions in a case study exam will vary slightly in each version of the exam but the two tutorials represent the length of a full case study exam. A landing page will appear at the beginning of each case study/Gateway exam that will clearly indicate how many sections will be in the exam and the timings for each section.

Each objective test question tutorial consists of a representative sample of questions covering different syllabus areas and question types across different levels of difficulty. To help support your learning we have included some new features for question tutorials.

New features include:

  • The 'Explain Answer' exhibit – for each question you will have the opportunity to see the rationale for the correct answer.
  • Enhanced item review screen – not only will you be able to flag questions to review, you will be able to see which questions you answered correctly, incorrectly or have not attempted at all.

These features will not appear in the live exam. To see which features will be available in the live exams please visit our exam tutorial.

Please note that our question tutorials are not designed to be taken under timed exam conditions. They do not represent the same structure or standard as the live exams. Therefore they cannot be used as a ‘mock exam’ to accurately predict future performance in the real exam.

The case study tutorials illustrate the key features of the live case study exams and demonstrate the format and presentation of different question types. They are designed to help you understand how to navigate through the exam and practice how to create a response to different question types.

There is only one version of each objective test question tutorial available per subject.

For Professional level, there are two sample versions of the case study tutorials per level.

No, objective test question tutorials are designed to support candidate preparation for the examination, they include a sample of questions and provide candidates with the opportunity to explore the examination software. The Certificate level question tutorials also include some additional features such as ‘Explain Answers’ and an item review screen which are not available in the live examination.

Case study tutorials provide examples of full length exams and each section of the exam will be timed. However, the live case study exam you sit will be based on pre-seen material prepared specifically for your exam session.

Both the objective test question tutorials and case study tutorials are free of charge.

The question tutorials are not complete tests and do not contain the same number of questions as you would encounter in the real exam. Question tutorials are not designed to be taken under timed exam conditions.

You will have a total of 3 hours to complete the CIMA case study tutorials. Each section of the case study tutorial is timed.

For the objective question tutorials, a review screen will indicate which questions you answered correctly, incorrectly or not attempted. However, as the question tutorials are not a complete test with the same structure as the live exam you will not receive an overall grade with a pass/fail result.

For the case study tutorials, your answers will not be scored or marked. However, you will be able to refer to model answers in a separate pdf format downloadable here.
