European Exam in General Cardiology (EEGC)

Welcome to the European Exam in General Cardiology (EEGC).

The European Examination in General Cardiology (EEGC) is administered by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in conjunction with the European Union of Medical Specialists Cardiology Section (UEMS-CS) and the National Cardiac Societies.

Format of the present knowledge-based assessment in General Cardiology is the following:

  • Best-of-five questions with clinical scenario
  • 3-hour exam of 120 questions
  • Mapped to the ESC Core Curriculum for the General Cardiologist
  • Pass/Fail exam, without negative marking
  • Computer-based

The exam is delivered once a year, usually a Tuesday in the 3rd week of June.

This exam is recommended for trainees in year 3 of their specialty training.

Candidates will sit the EEGC at Pearson VUE Testing Centres around the world.

Eligibility - Registration

Only National Cardiac Societies enrolled in the programme can register candidates to the EEGC.

Eligible candidates to sit this exam are identified by the National Cardiac Societies.

Registration is then strictly restricted to these nominated candidates.

Candidates are advised to reach out to their respective National Cardiac Society directly for any question.
