Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) - Superintendent

The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson is conducting a pilot test of multiple-choice questions and constructed-response items (essays) that may appear on future test forms for the Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) Superintendent test. 

To be eligible to participate in the pilot test, you must either (1) be a graduate student currently enrolled in an educator preparation program and preparing to seek licensure/endorsement in the field in Illinois, OR (2) be an individual who recently received a license in the field in Illinois and has no more than 3 years’ teaching experience.  Educator preparation faculty are not eligible to participate in the pilot test.

Advantages of Participating

You will have the opportunity to view and respond to multiple-choice questions and constructed-response items that may appear on future test forms for the ILTS Superintendent test.  Upon completion of a pilot test form, participants are offered a choice between a $75.00 Barnes & Noble eGift card or a $100.00 ILTS test voucher that may be applied towards future ILTS testing fees.  Test vouchers are transferable and expire 1 year from the date of issue.  Incentives are issued upon verification of the acceptable completion of each test form1. Please allow up to 6 weeks for processing.

Test Information 

Each pilot test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions 2 constructed-response items and is administered during a 165-minute test session, of which approximately 145 minutes are provided to respond to the test questions.  (The remaining 20 minutes include a computer-based testing tutorial and a short survey.)  Eligible participants may complete up to two (2) pilot test forms.  The second registration can only be scheduled after the first pilot test session is completed (consecutive pilot test appointments are not available).

Pilot test results will be analyzed as group data only and will be kept confidential. Score information will not be provided to participants or institutions.

Scheduling Information

ILTS pilot testing begins March 13, 2017.  You may schedule an appointment starting March 6, 2017.

After you schedule a pilot test appointment, Pearson VUE will email you a confirmation listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of your test center, and directions to the test center.

If you are unable to keep a pilot test appointment, please cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled test time.

1 You will receive compensation upon verification of satisfactory participation (defined as a completed test form with at least 25% of multiple-choice items answered correctly and all constructed-response assignments completed at the recommended length). You may choose only one incentive per test session and may take up to two (2) pilot tests.
