National Board for Home Care and Hospice Certification (NBHHC)

Coordinated through Professional Testing (PTI).

The National Board for Home care and Hospice Certification (NBHHC), founded by the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH), a trade association representing home care and hospice providers, is responsible for overseeing the certification process for six credentialing programs.

The National Board for Home care and Hospice Certification was created to establish, assess, and promote gold standards for home care and hospice professionals. For more information regarding NBHHC, please visit www.nbhhc.org.

Credentials

There are six credentials available through the NBHHC certification programs. The credentials denote that a certain level of knowledge, experience, and professional responsibility have been acquired to effectively manage a provider agency. Further, NBHHC credentialing demonstrates the certified individual’s commitment to the home care/hospice industry and its commitment to providing an optimal level of service and strive for excellence in their practice.

Scheduling for a computer-based exam

Before scheduling an exam, you must have received an “authorization to test” email from NBHHC qualifying you to take the exam. For more information, visit the NBHHC Website or follow the “Related Links” on this page. You may also contact NBHHC at (916) 641-5795, extension 113.

Once you have received your “authorization to test” email from NBHHC, you may schedule your exam. You may make an exam appointment up to one business day in advance. Locations are available on a first-come first-served basis.

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Please note that account activation may require up to 24 hours. When creating your account and scheduling your exam, you will need your NBHHC candidate ID number from the “authorization to test email” sent to you upon completion of the application process.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
