Official PTCB Practice Exam
If you are experiencing technical difficulties running a practice test, read the Troubleshooting FAQs.
FAQs: About the Test
PTCB offers the Official Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Practice Exams. They also offer the Official PTCB Calculations Practice Items app for your electronic devices. Visit the PTCB website for additional information.
Each practice exam form has 90 questions, which mimics the number of questions on the PTCE.
After you purchase your online exam for PTCB, you must complete it within 90 days. Once the exam is started, you will have a defined period of time to answer the questions on the exam. If you do not complete the exam within the 90-day window, it will expire and you will not be refunded the cost of the practice exam.
A count of how many items were answered correctly and incorrectly will be provided. The practice exam is not scored the same way as the PTCE; therefore, your result on the practice exam will not be interpretable against an official score report on the PTCE. Your performance on the Official PTCB Practice Exam in no way guarantees your performance on the PTCE.
Yes, two forms the exam are available. Each form contains unique questions. PTCB also offers the Official PTCB Calculations Practice Items app in the Apple App Store for your iOS and Android devices. More practice exams may be added in the future.
No, each practice exam contains a set of 90 questions that do not differ if the same practice exam form is purchased multiple times.
Each practice exam costs $29 USD seperately, which is valid for one attempt of the purchased form during a 90-day window. Both forms can be purchased together at a discounted price of $49. Test vouchers can also be purchased in discounted bulk quantities by Advocate Educators or Advocate Employers.
Maximum time to complete the practice exam is 110 minutes, which mimics the maximum amount of time allotted to complete the PTCE. After completing the exam, you will be given the opportunity to review and change your answers until the 110 minutes expire.
You may review your answers before submitting the practice exam for your results. All review must be done before time expires. Once you submit your exam, you will be able to access the solutions in the post-exam review.
Once you have finished your review, click End Review at the bottom-left corner of the review screen.
If time expires before you finish the practice exam, you will not have additional time to review or change your answers, but you will still have access to the solutions in the post-exam review.
Once you have submitted your responses, you will be able to review all questions and solutions or view solutions for specific questions.
Once you are on a question screen, you will see the Solution button in the upper-left corner of the screen. Click Solution and the solution material will open in a new window, allowing you to see which questions you answered correctly and incorrectly.
You will be given a maximum of 24 hours for the post-exam review within the 90-day delivery window. The 24-hour limit will only be deducted when you log into the post exam review screen. Exam takers can log out and resume the review at anytime until the full 24 hours are used.
Yes. In order to close the exam but still have access to the solutions within the 90-day delivery window, simply close your browser. If you attempt to exit the solutions by selecting End Review, a warning box will ask you to confirm that you are ready to end your access to this portion of the exam.
No, the practice exam is not scored. However, a count of how many items were correct will be provided once you submit the exam. Because the practice exam is not scored, your result on the practice exam will not be interpretable against an official score report on the PTCE. Your performance on the Official PTCB Practice Exam in no way guarantees your performance on the PTCE.

This will stop the clock and you can resume the exam when you are ready as long as it is within 90 days after the exam was purchased and the exam time has not run out.
