BLOOMINGTON, MN, USA — 23 July 2024

Pearson (FTSE: PSON.L) and its Pearson VUE business, the global leader in computer-based professional certification and licensure exam delivery, today announced the opening of its newest company-owned test center for high-stakes examinations, in Nairobi, Kenya. The Pearson Professional Centre (PPC) test center, based in Westlands, will have the ability to accommodate a minimum of 3,000 candidates per year, and deliver more than 920 tests per month.

“We are very proud to be able to extend our test center footprint into Kenya, and through it into the central African region. There is currently one other PPC in Africa, located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Through our test centers, we will be able to help more candidates in the region gain valuable certifications and licensures that will open career opportunities locally and abroad,” says Dr. Gary Gates, Managing Director, Pearson VUE.

The PPC will administer the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on behalf of the US National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). This is the first effort of its kind for Pearson VUE to partner with the NCSBN to open a test center in Nairobi to assist in addressing the critical skills shortage of nurses.

“Pearson VUE has extensive experience supporting the health care credentialing sector, having delivered exams on behalf of over 120 health care certification programs worldwide across a range of different professions. Professionals from the region are well regarded internationally, particularly within the medical and healthcare sector,” says Corey Hoesley, Senior Vice President - Global Operations, Pearson VUE.

“With the addition of the new PPC in Nairobi, Kenya, to our extensive global test center network, we can provide even greater accessibility and convenience to nurses in the region who aspire to pursue careers locally and in other countries.

“Aside from the NCLEX-RN examination, the center will also administer other high-stakes professional and licensure examinations on behalf of our clients. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with top-tier security measures to uphold the integrity of the tests, as well as provide the candidate with the best possible test experience,” concludes Hoesley.
