Effective at 12:00 a.m. EDT on September 8, 2026, following suspension of General License G by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and until further notice, we are unable to schedule or deliver exams for candidates who are residents of Iran unless they can provide proof of primary residency outside of Iran. Exams currently scheduled for impacted candidates will be canceled; candidates may contact customer service with any questions. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Documentation required to test after September 8, 2026
Some testing candidates may need to provide additional documentation before testing with Pearson if their identification documents are from Iran or another U.S.-sanctioned country for which testing is prohibited.
We understand this requirement may create questions or concern. The information below explains what documentation is needed to help confirm eligibility to test, where permitted.
When additional documentation is required
If you present a primary or secondary ID from Iran, or from another U.S.-sanctioned country where testing is prohibited, you must provide additional government-issued documentation before you can test.
The additional documentation must show that your primary residence is in a country that is not subject to the applicable sanctions restriction.
Permissible documentation
Acceptable forms of government-issued documentation include:
- Passport
- National or European identification card
- Permanent resident card or permanent resident visa
- Certificate of naturalization or citizenship
- U.S. green card, also known as an alien registration receipt card
- Driver’s license
- Student visa
- Work visa
- Employment authorization papers
Before your exam appointment
Please make sure the document you provide is current, government-issued, and clearly shows that your primary residence is in a non-sanctioned country.
