CGFM

Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) designation

AGA’s CGFM Program was designed specifically to help meet the critical need for greatly increased emphasis on the professional qualifications and stature of government financial managers. This professional designation recognizes the unique skills and special knowledge required of professionals who specialize in government financial management.

Online exams

Take your CGFM exams conveniently from home through OnVUE online proctoring. A live proctor will monitor you through the webcam on your workstation to provide a secure exam experience.

Watch the short video on the AGA online proctoring page to see how convenient it is to test from home or work. Be sure to run the system test before you sign in to register for an online proctored exam. Good luck!

CGFM Program application

Prior to being able to register with Pearson VUE and schedule your testing appointment at a Pearson VUE test center or online, CGFM candidates must have already applied and been accepted into the CGFM Program by AGA. Accepted candidates receive an eligibility letter from AGA, containing their candidate ID number.

AGA’s website (CGFM Certification: Certification Process) contains information on application requirements and procedures. All application questions should be directed to AGA’s Office of Professional Certification at 800.AGA.7211 or agacgfm@agacgfm.org.

CGFM Examinations

There are three CGFM Examinations administered at Pearson VUE test centers or online:

  • Governmental Environment
  • Governmental Accounting, Financial Reporting and Budgeting
  • Governmental Financial Management and Control

AGA’s website (CGFM Certification: Examinations Requirement) contains information on examinations content. It is recommended that the candidates review AGA’s Examination Policies prior to scheduling their testing appointment.

Scheduling a testing center appointment

If you have already received an eligibility letter from AGA for the CGFM Program, you can register with Pearson VUE and schedule a testing appointment at a Pearson VUE test center.

Appointments at Pearson VUE test centers may be made up to one business day in advance.
