Programs & Certification Information
Currently, CompTIA offers certifications in IT helpdesk/remote support, networking, servers, cloud computing, project management, technical training, Linux, security, storage, printer and document imaging, document management, and healthcare IT. CompTIA A+ 2009 objectives (exam codes 220-701 & 220-702) retire in English on August 31, 2013 and in all other languages on December 31, 2013. Candidates currently studying these objectives should plan accordingly.
The CompTIA A+ 2011 objectives (220-801 & 220-802) will be available starting October 9, 2012, and both sets of objectives will run concurrent until the retirement of the 2009 objectives on August 31, 2013.
Please note: Candidates CANNOT ‘MIX’ the 2009 and 2011 exam objectives. Passing one 2009 exam and one 2011 exam does not qualify for a CompTIA A+ Certification. BOTH exams must come from the same set of objectives. One CompTIA A+ certificate is earned upon successfully completing both exams.
CompTIA Green IT Specialist Certification Retirement
The CompTIA Green IT certification (FC0-GR1) will be retiring on December 31, 2013. CompTIA will not replace this exam. Anyone studying for the exam is encouraged to complete his/her studies and seek certification. Any exam vouchers previously purchased for exams not yet taken will be valid until December 31, 2013. CompTIA Green IT Specialist certifications will not expire.
CompTIA IT for Sales Specialist Certification Retirement
The CompTIA IT for Sales certification (FC0-TS1) will be retiring on December 31, 2013. CompTIA will not replace this exam. Anyone studying for the exam is encouraged to complete his/her studies and seek certification. Any exam vouchers previously purchased for exams not yet taken will be valid until December 31, 2013. CompTIA IT for Sales Specialist certifications will not expire.
CompTIA PDI+ Certification Retirement
The CompTIA PDI+ certification (PD0-001) will be retiring on January 31, 2014. CompTIA will not replace this exam. Anyone studying for the exam is encouraged to complete his/her studies and seek certification. Any exam vouchers previously purchased for exams not yet taken will be valid until January 31, 2014. CompTIA PDI+ certifications will not expire.
The CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician exam covers U.S. regulatory requirements, medical organizational behavior, IT operations, medical business operations and security - including the knowledge and skills required to deploy and support healthcare IT systems in various clinical settings. The exam is intended for IT professionals who are CompTIA A+ certified or have 500 hours of hands-on IT technical experience in the lab or field.
Information technology has a significant presence in all areas of business today, and its prevalence is reflected in the span of CompTIA’s membership. CompTIA members receive a variety of benefits, like specialized initiatives and programs dedicated to major areas within the IT industry.
You do not need a voucher to schedule a CompTIA exam. Members and non-members can register on line using a credit card.
Please note: CompTIA requires the candidate to review the CompTIA Candidate Agreement (http://certification.comptia.org/Training/testingcenters/policies/agreement.aspx) prior to beginning an exam. The candidate will be allowed fifteen minutes.
CompTIA exam vouchers are available for purchase through the CompTIA Marketplace or the Pearson VUE Voucher Store. If a certification requires more than one exam, multiple vouchers will need to be purchased.
