Important Notes Regarding Skills Testing

Exam Update
The NNAAP skills were updated/changed effective with exams administered on or after July 1, 2018. Please click here for the new skills listing.

Exam Assistance Restrictions
You may not receive help from anyone during the Skills Evaluation, and the candidate and the client must speak to one another in English so that the evaluator can understand and correctly score the evaluation.

If either candidate gives help or receives help during the test, or the client and candidate are communicating in a language other than English, the test will be stopped.


Score Reports:
Effective March 13, 2017 score reports will no longer be given at regional test sites. Pass/Fail score reports are available for view on-line within 24 hours of testing. Details on failing scores are not available on line . If you would like a score report mailed to you, please bring a self-addressed stamped envelope on the day of testing.

Account creation:
Candidates will no longer be permitted to create an account and self-register for the examination. All accounts will be created by North Carolina state-approved training programs or the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Training Waiver:
Rule 10A NCAC 130.0301 implemented on March 1, 2016, requires candidates wishing to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Examination to complete North Carolina state-approved training in order to register and schedule testing.

If you did not complete North Carolina state-approved training but wish to test, you may be eligible for a “training waiver.” Please review the North Carolina Nurse Aide I candidate handbook or visit the North Carolina website below for additional information.
