ABCRS Computer-Based Testing
The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS) was established in 1935 to promote the health and welfare of the American people through the development and maintenance of high standards for certification in the specialty of colon and rectal surgery. To achieve this objective, the Board has established qualifications for examinations and procedures for Certification and Maintenance of Certification. The ABCRS is an independent, non-profit organization and a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Certification Application
Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:
- Applied for certification or recertification through the ABCRS website and had the application approved;
- Registered for the examination, including payment of an examination fee to the ABCRS;
- Received an Examination Admission Authorization letter from the ABCRS.
Scheduling
Examinees may schedule their test appointment online or by telephone. To schedule online, you must first create a Pearson VUE web account. Please note that account creation may require up to 24 hours. You will be notified by e-mail when your account is activated.
To schedule your test and to create an online account, you will need the Candidate ID from your Examination Admission Authorization letter. Test appointments may be made up to one business day in advance, but be aware that many test centers fill prior to the examination period.
After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
You will need to bring your ABCRS Examination Admission Authorization letter and two forms of ID (one must have a photo and both must have signatures) to the test center with you. The name on the IDs must match the name on the letter.
