American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) is an independent, non-profit organization founded in 1924 for the purpose of certifying otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge. ABOHNS administers its Written Exam and Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology (CPO) Exam through Pearson’s computer-based testing platform.
Before scheduling your exam appointment at Pearson, you must have completed the three steps below.
- Applied for the ABOHNS Written Exam or CPO Exam and received application approval
- Registered for the exam and paid the ABOHNS exam fee
- Received an “Examination Admission Authorization Letter” email from ABOHNS
Examinees may schedule their exam appointment online or by phone. To schedule online, you must first create a Pearson account, which requires your Candidate ID listed on your Examination Admission Authorization Letter. Please allow up to 24 hours for account activation. You will receive an
email notification when your account has been activated.
Exam appointments may be scheduled up to one business day in advance, however, many test centers fill quickly before an examination period. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to schedule their appointments as early as possible.
After you schedule your exam, Pearson will send you a confirmation email that includes your exam date and time, the test center address and phone number, and directions to the test center.
On the day of your exam, you must bring two forms of identification to the test center. One ID must include a photograph, such as a non-expired government-issued driver’s license or passport, and both IDs must display your signature. The name on both IDs must match the name on your Examination Admission Authorization Letter exactly.
