AGA
AGA is a professional association that serves government accountability professionals by providing quality education, fostering professional development and certification, and working in the public interest for higher standards of government accountability and transparency.
Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) designation
AGA’s CGFM Program was designed specifically to help meet the critical need for greatly increased emphasis on the professional qualifications and stature of government financial managers. This professional designation recognizes the unique skills and special knowledge required of professionals who specialize in government financial management.
Prior to being able to register with Pearson and schedule your testing appointment at a Pearson test center or online, CGFM candidates must have already applied and been accepted into the CGFM Program by AGA. Accepted candidates receive an eligibility letter from AGA, containing their candidate ID number.
AGA’s website (Certification Process – AGA) contains information on application requirements and procedures. All application questions should be directed to AGA’s Office of Professional Certification at 800-AGA-7211 or agacgfm@agacgfm.org.
There are three CGFM Examinations administered at Pearson test centers or online:
- Governmental Environment
- Governmental Accounting, Financial Reporting and Budgeting
- Governmental Financial Management and Control
AGA’s website (CGFM Exams – AGA) contains information on examinations content. It is recommended that the candidates review Taking the Exams – AGA prior to scheduling their testing appointment.
If you have already received an eligibility letter from AGA for the CGFM Program, you can register with Pearson and schedule a testing appointment at a Pearson test center.
Appointments at Pearson test centers may be made up to one business day in advance.
Once you’ve received your CGFM Program eligibility letter from AGA, you can register with Pearson and schedule your OnVUE online exam.
Before booking, review the online testing requirements to confirm that OnVUE is the right option for you.
To Reschedule
Contact Pearson or log into your account and change your appointment at least 24 hours prior to your originally scheduled testing appointment date and time. Rescheduling an exam within 24 hours of appointment time is subject to a same-day forfeit exam fee. Exam fees are due for no-shows.
To Cancel (Non-Emergency)
Contact Pearson or log into your account and cancel your appointment at least 24 hours prior to your originally scheduled testing appointment date and time. Canceling an exam within 24 hours of appointment time is subject to a same-day forfeit exam fee. Exam fees are due for no-shows.
To Cancel (Emergency)
These procedures only apply if you need to cancel your testing appointment for an emergency reason (defined as a death in the immediate family, medical emergency or car accident) within a 24-hour period prior to your originally scheduled testing appointment date and time. In order to request a waiver of the no-show fee in this case, you must call Pearson at 888-846-6948 within 24 hours before or after your appointment time and ask for a Program Coordinator handling emergency cancellations. Documentation may be requested.
