Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC)

The Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC) offers a comprehensive certification program that includes minimum eligibility requirements, an application process, an evaluative examination, recertification, and disciplinary processes. The examination tool measures an applicant’s knowledge of core competencies needed to serve as a guardian. The exam is a multiple-choice, two-hour, proctored exam that must be taken in approved testing centers and is only available within the United States.

Non-Disclosure Agreement

You will be required to affirm that you have read and accept the terms of the Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC) Non-Disclosure Agreement onscreen prior to beginning your exam. The Agreement reads: “The questions contained in this exam are proprietary to CGC. You may not share the actual questions, answers, or your recollection of any questions or answers with any third party. Should CGC find you shared this proprietary information, this could result in disciplinary procedures being initiated and could lead to revocation of your certification status. If you do not agree with these terms, you will not be allowed to take the exam.”

Prior to scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already applied for and been approved to take the exam through the CGC. To begin this process, you may visit guardianshipcert.org/become-certified.

Scheduling

All candidates will be notified by CGC of their approval to schedule the exam, which will include a candidate information bulletin with details about the exam and processes. The application is valid for one year from the date it was originally submitted to CGC. After that date, a new application must be submitted.

The candidate will receive an “Authorization to Test” email from Pearson Vue with a candidate ID and client authorization ID. Candidates may then visit the link provided to schedule an exam. Exams must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance and, should the candidate wish to cancel or reschedule, they must contact Pearson Vue via the online portal to avoid any additional fees.
