Information Governance Professional Examination
The IGP credential defines the competency requirements necessary to demonstrate effective information governance practice, including accountability, transparency, integrity, protection, compliance, availability, retention, and disposition. The role of the information governance professional is strategic in nature, ensuring that opportunities to leverage information effectively can be capitalized on, while preventing or mitigating potential risks posed by record keeping practices. The practice of information governance extends beyond the traditional role of a records manager, and the credential is intended to reflect this distinct body of knowledge and associated skills and abilities for the information governance professional. As the highest industry credential for information governance professionals, the IGP credential demonstrates knowledge and competency in the area of information governance, and dedication to upholding high standards of ethical and professional practice.
Application information
Before you schedule an IGP exam appointment, make sure you have:
- met the prerequisites;
- applied;
- paid the designated fee; and
- received your Authorization‑to‑Test (ATT) email from ARMA International.

Scheduling your exam appointment
Your Authorization‑to‑Test (ATT) email includes the date range in which you can take your exam. You are responsible for booking your appointment within that timeframe.
Create your Pearson account
You will need a Pearson account before you can schedule your exam. Please allow up to 24 hours for your account to be activated. When creating your account and booking your exam, have your IGP candidate ID number ready. This ID appears in the ATT email you received after completing your application and should be entered as your PTI ID.

Schedule, reschedule, or cancel your appointment
You are responsible for managing your own exam appointment. Appointments can be scheduled up to one business day in advance, and test center availability is offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
After you schedule
Once your appointment is confirmed, Pearson will send you a confirmation email that includes your exam date and time, the test center address, and important policies to review before test day.
You will receive a confirmation email whenever you schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment.
If you do not receive a confirmation email, please sign in to your Pearson account to verify your appointment status.
