Scheduling

The Advanced Sommelier Theory examination will be offered at a Pearson VUE testing center or an authorized Pearson VUE third-party testing center. The designated testing center may or may not be conveniently located in your city. As a result, candidates may need to travel to secure a suitable location at the assigned time for the examination.

Candidates living in North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean

  • Date: Wednesday, February 18, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 AM Pacific Time / 1:00 PM Eastern Time (or the equivalent in your time zone — use World Time Buddy to confirm).
  • The system may display multiple time options; however, you must schedule for 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET (or your local equivalent).
  • If you select an alternate time, your registration will be invalid.

Candidates living in Asia

  • Date: May or June 2026 (exact date and time will be shared as soon as available).
  • The Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas and Pearson VUE will handle scheduling for candidates living in South Korea and other parts of Asia.

Appointment

Appointments for the Advanced Sommelier Theory examination at a Pearson VUE center or authorized Pearson VUE third-party testing center, for those living in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean need to be scheduled in advance and are contingent upon availability.

Appointment scheduling with Pearson VUE will be open from Tuesday, December 9, 2025 through Tuesday, January 20, 2026; we encourage you to schedule your exam as soon as possible so that you can secure a seat at the nearest center to you. If the center located closest to you is not immediately available, we suggest booking the next closest and continuing to check back to see if a closer center releases additional seats.

The total appointment time for the Advanced Sommelier Theory examination is 75 minutes, and includes an NDA, the exam time, and a survey. Candidates should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.

English as a Second Language (ESL) and Disability Accommodations

The Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas welcomes all individuals who can fulfill the essential duties of a professional sommelier to participate in CMS-A courses and examinations according to our Accommodation Policy.

If you have a disability or if English is not your first language, we may be able to provide you with additional time on the Advanced Sommelier Knowledge Assessment. Complete the Accommodation Request Form and submit via email to requests@mastersommeliers.org no later than November 2, 2025.
