The New York State Police has a long and proud history of serving the citizens of New York since 1917. Our mission, to serve, protect and defend the people of New York, while preserving the rights and dignity of all, has remained constant from our inception.

Exam Authorization and Scheduling

Before you can schedule your written examination appointment, you must first submit an online application with the New York State Police and meet the applicable eligibility requirements. You will not be able to schedule your exam until Pearson receives authorization from the NYSP. Once you are authorized, you will receive an authorization to test email from Pearson that will provide instructions on how to schedule your exam. This email will be sent to the email address provided on your application.

Individuals who have not completed an application and are interested in pursuing a career with the New York State Police are encouraged to visit the NYSP website.
