We’re delighted to confirm your registration for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Paper A and B exams.
We have carefully selected Pearson Vue to be our partners in delivering the exams in the new online format, given their extensive experience in running highly successful online examinations for many medical colleges and other professional bodies.
Preparing for your exams
We understand that you may be wondering about the format of the examinations and curious about the platform. We’ve created some guidance for you which you can find here: Online Papers A and B exams. This guidance will talk you through the process of logging into the exam, how to navigate the platform and how the exams work.
Practice exam
To provide you with as much real practice in the exam platform as possible, we have created a complete mock examination for you. You can complete this exam as often as you like, and we recommend that you spend time familiarising yourself with the Pearson Vue environment. You can find this exam here: Practice exam.
Scheduling
You will be notified by Pearson Vue of the date and time of your Paper A or B exam. Please make sure that you allow yourself plenty of time to log in to the exam, to prove your identity and to sign the confidentiality agreement.
Royal College of Psychiatrists Exams
MRCPsych exams deliver a competency-based curriculum for specialist core training in psychiatry.
Candidates must pass two written papers of 150 multiple choice / extended matching item questions (Papers A and B) and a clinical assessment of skills and competencies exam (CASC).

Exam formats
MRCPsych Paper A and B exams are computer-based assessments of knowledge, competencies, and skills related to disciplines such as Clinical and Critical Review. They use a multiple choice format for around 100 questions with an extended matching format for the other (c. 50) questions.

Exam Retake Policy
Unfortunately, there is no possibility to retake these exams, you will need to reapply for the next exams on the RCPsych website: https://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/
