American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS)

American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS)

The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the public interest by promoting excellence in the art and science of podiatric surgery through certification.

ABFAS certification indicates that a podiatrist has demonstrated a cognitive knowledge of foot and ankle surgery, including the diagnosis of general medical problems and surgical management of foot diseases, deformities, and/or trauma, and those structures which affect the foot and ankle.

Candidates authorized to take an examination should go to the ABFAS website to schedule, reschedule, or cancel an exam appointment.

If you need special accommodations, please submit your application at least 60 days prior to the exam date. This applies to all exams EXCEPT for the In-training exam, which has a shorter window between registration opening date and exam date. For special accommodations for the In-training exam, submit your application no less than 30 days prior to the exam date.

We suggest you submit your application when you register for your exam to avoid missing either deadline. Applications for special accommodations are available on the ABFAS website.
