Frequently asked questions

The best preparation for certification exams is practical experience. In general, we recommend six months to two years of hands-on experience using AWS.

To prepare for your exam with confidence, use an Exam Prep Plan on AWS Skill Builder and follow the 4 steps. Plans includes exam-style questions, hands-on labs, videos reviewing each exam domain and task statement, practice assessments, flashcards, and more. Plans also include domain-based training to refresh your AWS knowledge and skills. Exact materials vary by the certification exam. Some materials require an AWS Skill Builder subscription.

To register for an exam, sign in to aws.amazon.com/certification and select “Schedule an exam.” Next, log into your AWS account by choosing AWS Builder ID or one of the sign-in methods. Navigate to Exam Registration, followed by Schedule an exam.

Candidates ages 13-17 are permitted to take AWS Certification exams with the consent of their parent or legal guardian. For more details, please see the AWS Certification FAQ page, under the “About AWS Certification” tab.
