European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT)

Fellowship Examination of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT Exam)

The success of the EBOT Exam is spreading throughout Europe and every year, more and more applicants are encouraged to take this prestigious qualification, which is helping ever greater numbers of EBOT fellows to progress in their careers. The EBOT Exam has evolved over the last few years to make it more open and fair, and this fact has been well received by all candidates.

The EBOT Exam addresses not only knowledge, but also skills, and the EBOT Board is looking at how to grade these areas of assessment in a final fellowship examination in the future. This will take us closer to the requirements of many of the European orthopaedic societies within the European Union. Nowadays, the content of the exam is already based on the Syllabus of the European Educational Programme Curriculum.

To open up the exam to an even wider range of candidates and make it accessible to a larger number of European residents, the EBOT Board has recently decided to offer a certificate of basic training to all those candidates having successfully completed section I, the basic, written part of the exam. Successful candidates in this first part can stand alone with this certificate or proceed to section II, the advanced, oral part. Only after successful completion of both parts, candidates will be awarded with the EBOT fellowship, FEBOT.

PLEASE NOTE that this year, candidates can choose to take the written part as fully proctored online exam from home or at work OR at one of the different examination centre provided by Pearson Vue. Either way, the written part is held on Tuesday, 06 June 2023 between 09:00 and 12:00 GMT/10:00 and 13:00 CET. Candidates either book a time slot for the proctored online exam or a seat at one of the available examination centres from a list provided during the registration process.
