National Board for Home Care and Hospice Certification (NBHHC)

The National Board for Home care and Hospice Certification (NBHHC), founded by the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH), a trade association representing home care and hospice providers, is responsible for overseeing the certification process for six credentialing programs.

The National Board for Home care and Hospice Certification was created to establish, assess, and promote gold standards for home care and hospice professionals. Find more information regarding NBHHC.

Credentials

There are six credentials available through the NBHHC certification programs. The credentials denote that a certain level of knowledge, experience, and professional responsibility have been acquired to effectively manage a provider agency. Further, NBHHC credentialing demonstrates the certified individual’s commitment to the home care/hospice industry and its commitment to providing an optimal level of service and strive for excellence in their practice.

Scheduling your exam appointment

Your Authorization‑to‑Test (ATT) email includes the date range in which you can take your exam. You are responsible for booking your appointment within that timeframe.

Create your Pearson account

You will need a Pearson account before you can schedule your exam. Please allow up to 24 hours for your account to be activated. When creating your account and booking your exam, have your NBHHC candidate ID number ready. This ID appears in the ATT email you received after completing your application and should be entered as your PTI ID.

If you experience any issues with your account, the quickest way to connect with a customer service agent is through the chat feature available on this page.

Schedule, reschedule, or cancel your appointment

You are responsible for managing your own exam appointment. Appointments can be scheduled up to one business day in advance, and test center availability is offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

After you schedule

Once your appointment is confirmed, Pearson will send you a confirmation email that includes your exam date and time, the test center address, and important policies to review before test day.

You will receive a confirmation email whenever you schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please sign in to your Pearson account to verify your appointment status.
