Testing Space Requirements

Desk Setup

Your desk must be completely empty except for:

• The computer used for testing
• Pre-approved items and Comfort Aids *
• A beverage in an unmarked container

You must remove all items on, under, or within arm’s reach of your desk, including:

• Electronics (disconnect and cover if not removable)
• Books, notes, paper, pens, writing tools *
• Tissue boxes, makeup, handkerchiefs
• Food and smoking products
• Personal accessories (bags, wallets, coats, glasses cases)
• Weapons of any kind

Room Requirements

• Your space must be quiet and free of distractions
• Clear whiteboards and note boards before your exam
• You must remain alone at all times
• No one else may view your screen, even from a distance

Prohibited Spaces

• Bathrooms
• Public spaces (offices, libraries, coffee shops)
• Any environment in which you are not fully dressed

* Some programs allow specific exceptions—check your exam’s policies and allowances.

Proof of Identification Requirements

Accepted IDs

You must present a valid, government-issued ID with a recognizable photo that exactly matches the name on your exam booking.

Approved forms of identification include:

• International passport
• Plastic driver's license
• National, state, provincial, or EU ID card
• Alien registration card (green card or permanent resident/visa)
• Approved Aadhaar cards (see Aadhaar ID Policy)
• Non-U.S. military ID (including spouse/dependent)
• Japanese employee or student ID with a Japanese Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate

Paper IDs are accepted only in: Algeria, Brazil, Cameroon, and the Dominican Republic.

Candidates Under 18

• Minors must present their own valid ID
• A parent or guardian must be present during check‑in to show their ID and give consent

Prohibited IDs

• Expired, digital, damaged, copied, or privately issued IDs
• IDs that cannot legally be photographed (including some security or military IDs)
• Birth certificates
• Naturalization papers
• Geneva Convention ID card
• Canadian health insurance card
• U.S. Senate, House, Military ID, DoD CAC, or other secure access IDs
• IDs from countries where OnVUE delivery is restricted (Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, and restricted regions of Ukraine)

Testing rules

Arrive on Time

Begin check-in 30 minutes before your appointment. During check-in you will:

• Complete required technology checks to assess your equipment
• Take photos of yourself and your ID to verify your identity
• Complete a 360° room scan to confirm your environment is ready

If any requirement is not met, you cannot test, and your fee will be forfeited.

During the Exam

Your exam session is recorded for security, quality, and training purposes.

You must follow all on‑screen instructions and any guidance from the proctor.

Do not:

• Cheat or allow another person to take your exam
• Record, share, or allow anyone else view your screen, even if you experience issues
• Leave the webcam view unless your exam confirms you are on an approved break (not all exams offer breaks)
• Speak or read aloud, unless instructed
• Access your phone unless explicitly permitted by a proctor

Violations will result in your exam being revoked and your fee forfeited.

Getting Help

• Use the in-exam chat to reach a proctor (they cannot pause/extend your exam or troubleshoot your device/network)
• If your computer has frozen or disconnected, close and relaunch OnVUE from your downloads folder
