ICC Contractor/Trades exams
Contractor/Trades exams use three-digit exam codes. If your code has two digits, go to the UST/AST page.
Contractor/Trades has its own account, separate from UST/AST, so you’ll need a username and password just for this program.
Read your exam bulletin. Before you register, read the Exam Information Bulletin and content outline for your exam on ICC’s website. It’s your responsibility to understand them.
Does your exam require pre-authorization?
Some jurisdictions must approve you before you can schedule. Check the exam lists to see which group your exam is in. Exam lists open in a new window.

You can book an appointment up to one calendar day before the day you want to test, if seats are available.
Exams that require pre-authorization
Your jurisdiction sends you an Eligibility To Test Notice. You’ll need the ICC ID Number on that notice to create your account.
Check that your name matches your ID. Your account must use your legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID. The name and personal details in your account will appear on your exam documents and on any reports sent to your licensing agency. If anything is wrong, contact your local jurisdiction right away to fix it.
Exams that don’t require pre-authorization (including National Contractor/Trades)
You can create an account and schedule right away.
Check that your name matches your ID. Your account must use your legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID. The name and personal details in your account will appear on your exam documents and on any reports sent to your licensing agency. If anything is wrong, contact us right away to fix it.
