Bloomington, Minn., August 16, 2012 – The American Board for Certification in Homeland Security (ABCHS) has appointed Pearson VUE to provide a flexible computer-based test delivery service which enables military personnel to pursue professional certification at or near their duty station.
Effective September 2012, the Certified in Homeland Security Level Five (CHS-V) exam will be delivered by Pearson VUE to provide active duty and retired members of the military, first responders, law enforcement and security experts with demonstrable proof of their role-specific knowledge and range of skills, such as incident handling and emergency planning. Increasing access to credentialing opportunities aligns with official strategies to better transition service members to civilian jobs and reduce the national rate of unemployment for veterans.
Exams will be delivered primarily through Pearson VUE Authorized Test Centers located on U.S. military installations globally, enabling military personnel, government agency employees and federal contractors to pursue professional certification.
Marianne Schmid, CEO, ABCHS stated: “We selected Pearson VUE because of its military testing channel, the breadth of its service and its reputation for exceptional customer support. Providing active duty and retired military personnel with a platform to achieve credentials leads to better careers and better lives. It’s clear that Pearson VUE supports our objective, given its extensive test center network and history of serving the U.S. military.”
“Delivering tests to our men and women serving around the world is important because it allows them to translate skills gained as a result of their military experience into valuable credentials,” said Robert Whelan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pearson VUE. “Our commitment to continue providing the most accessible and secure testing environments will ensure service members and their families can conveniently pursue relevant certification for greater career success.”
As part of its commitment to excellence in exam delivery, the ABCHS is currently in the final stages of seeking accreditation for nine other exams. Once accredited, the exams will also be delivered by Pearson VUE.
