What is the PA-CAT
The PA-CAT (Physician Assistant College Admission Test) is a specialized standardized exam for PA program applicants. It assesses candidates' readiness for PA school, covering topics like anatomy, physiology, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, and behavioral sciences. The PA-CAT provides PA programs with an additional tool to evaluate applicants' academic abilities and potential for success, helping admissions committees make informed decisions and ensuring students are well-prepared for the demanding studies and clinical responsibilities they will face in their training to become physician assistants.
PA-CAT Registration
There are no prerequisites to take the PA-CAT. To be eligible to schedule your exam date, register at pa-cat.com. After registration, you will receive your eligibility number within 24 hours, unless applying with special accommodations or for fee assistance (Resources for Candidates for additional information).
To schedule your test day and time with Pearson Vue, you must have already:
- Registered at PA-CAT;
- Purchased your eligibility; and
- Received a confirmation email with eligibility ID.
Scheduling
First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account by clicking on the Create Account button in the upper right corner.
